CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
We are taking out the “hidden” portion of the WWC Art Show and highlighting the incredible and diverse artistic talents of our authors! Now located just outside the Merchants’ Room, visitors will have to move through the art show to enter–meaning more visibility! We have a minimum 15 spots for artists: applications will be juried by the WWC Art Show Committee. Submission Window: March 22, 2026 – May 25 , 2026 |
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- All media types open for consideration: painting, digital work, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, etc. Please note, this year we will not be accepting books in the Art Show unless they are graphic novels or comic books and the artist was responsible for most of the illustrations. This is to ensure that otherwise books are all sold within the Merchants’ Room.
- Participants will be chosen to allow for a wide variety of artistic styles, genres, and media types. Please no complete pieces that have been bought to be re-sold, such as store-bought jewelry. We want to showcase original art in the WWC Art Show.
- Applicants will be emailed following the jury process in late May/early June 2026.
Please send the following to [email protected]:
1. Name
2. Contact Information (Email and Phone Number)
3. Website/social media/other links that will show us what you are about (if possible).
4. 3-6 images of your art in a picture format or pdf. These images must be representative of the art you would show, but they do not have to be the exact work you will display/sell.
5. How does your work inspire/how is it inspired by literature?
6. Are you a current WWC ticket holder? *Festival attendees will get priority, although we will be saving a few spots for outside artists.
7. Would you prefer a 4 foot or a 6 foot table? If only 4 ft tables are left, would you still be interested?
8. Do you need a space against a wall? (Please note that we are unable to hang or tape anything to the walls.)
9. We ask that (if possible) participating artists volunteer to answer questions or man the cash during the show. Are you able to do a 2-hour shift with the art show during the convention weekend?
10. We are hoping to have a separate table for artists to work/demo. Are you interested in doing a live demo during the show?
11. Are you interested in being near your table frequently? (This will help us arrange which table you have so we are not blocking traffic.)
12. Will you be selling your work or only showing it?
13. Is there anything else we need to know about your work?
MORE INFORMATION
- Artists will be sent a show contract and link to pay the table fees upon being chosen for the art show. Tables will not be considered secured until paid for.
- Art Show participants must be able to set up Friday, August 14 between 10am and noon, and take down at 5 pm on Sunday, August 16. There is a set of loading doors close to the show that participants can use for bringing in/out their work. A few exceptions can be made for artists who cannot set up at that time. This can be discussed with the coordinators.
- 6 foot and 4 foot tables with black tablecloths will be provided.
- Artists must provide their own supports, price tags, etc.
- All sales will be recorded via square on a device provided by the coordinators. One of them will be onsite the entire weekend. Cash and credit will be supported. Within three days of the end of the show, all artists will be paid by etransfer (or cash if possible), minus the square reader fee.
- Artists selling their work will be asked to supply a list of their pieces and prices closer to the date of the show. This is to ensure pieces can be inputted into the square app. All artwork for sale must be tagged with artist and price (exceptions being mass-produced items or things like stickers, etc.).
Beyond the Page Art Show will be located just outside the merchants’ room and will run the same hours. Please note – before/after hours the art show will not be secured, although the location is in an area out of the way of regular, non-convention hotel guests. Artists are encouraged to drape a tablecloth over their wares at night. If needed, they can remove their art or we have the ability for some to be put in the storage room at night, but it MUST be set up by the artists by the start of the show the next day and only taken down at the end of each day.
Beyond the Page Art Show, When Words Collide, and AWCS do not take any responsibility for artwork that is stolen or damaged during the show.
Fee: 2026 WWC ticket holder: $30/table
Non WWC ticket holder: $100/table (includes a ticket to the convention)
Deadline for submissions is midnight MST, May 23, 2026
Emails received beyond this date will be deleted unopened.
We look forward to seeing your application!
