About When Words Collide
Organisers
Meet our organising committee.
Purpose
- To bring together the literary community, both readers and writers,
in Calgary and beyond, for a sharing of information, for learning, and
to build a sense of community.
- To bring a wide variety of writers together to share tips and information
- To appeal to readers of many genres : Mystery, Science Fiction and
Fantasy, Romance, Literary, Historical, Western, Film scripts,
Poetry...
- We would like a broad presence of local writers and other experts
not only attending, but participating on panels.

Four concurrent streams of programming, including panels of speakers
debating topics on:
- Writing
- Literature
- Publishing
- Art (cover / interior)
- Social Events
- Pitch sessions
- Blue-pencil café
- Workshops
- Merchant's Corner
Merchants
Merchants' Corner for local booksellers, publishers, authors, and literary organizations to advertise / sell books / display art. Includes freebie tables for information sharing and a table for attending authors to sell their books.
Merchants' Corner is open to the public.
Autograph Session
Saturday evening session with festival guests and 50+ attending
authors signing their books.
Autograph Session is open to the public.
Socials
Daytime and evening socials run throughout the weekend for
mingling, teaser readings from new books, meeting festival guests and
attending authors & publishers, and all manner of social fun.
Cost
Current registration cost is $45 CAD per
attendee (student/senior and child rates available). Registration
cost at the door is higher (see Registration for
details).
